Education
Education is a key component of the Refuge’s commitment to our community. Education is aptly placed as the first word in our mission statement, and a responsibility that we take seriously. We’ve rescued and rehabilitated wildlife since 1994 and will continue to do so for many years to come. But one of the best ways to mitigate the problems created by human interference with wildlife is to promote a healthy coexistence with the wildlife around us. That’s something we do very well in our Project Outwild outreach program, children’s camps, community festivals, and soon at our charter school.
The Refuge’s education programs cover a vast array of topics at venues around the Emerald Coast. From programs conducted at private homes to large regional festivals and conferences you will find our certified educators and animal ambassadors creating enthusiasm, concern, and compassion for the native wildlife of Florida. For participants of all ages our programs offer up- to- date current information on marine and terrestrial wildlife, and thought-provoking presentations designed to foster feelings of stewardship and responsibility. We offer the chance to see some of our most amazing wildlife up close and personal with visits from our animal ambassadors.
As our education program grows with the founding of our charter school we hope you will grow with us by attending our programs and supporting our mission of Education, conservation, and rehabilitation for the welfare of Florida’s natural fauna.
