Animal Ambassadors

The goal of ECWR is the release of rehabilitated injured and/or orphaned animals back into their natural habitats. Unfortunately, due to circumstances such as severe physical injury or behavioral issues, some animals are deemed non-releasable. A non-releasable animal is unable to care for themselves and must be kept in captivity. The non-releasable animals shown below have been adopted by ECWR and are “ECWR Animal Ambassadors” used for educational purposes and demonstrations.

Adopt an Animal Ambassador

If you would like to sponsor an Animal Ambassador please read their stories below and select a sponsorship. Your Animal Ambassador Adoption package will include a letter with the animal's story, a beautiful photograph and a certificate of adoption on your ambassador.

  Franklin - Grey Fox

Franklin is from a family of four baby Grey Foxes and their mother who were trapped by animal control in the Spring of 2005. After admitting the family, an examinatiion revealed large hairless areas on each fox. Tests confirmed that they were all suffering from a severe fungal infection. All the foxes recovered, but the medicated baths that were a required part of their treatment left the baby foxes imprinted. The mother was successfully released back to the wild, three of the babies were placed in other suitable habitats and Franklin joined our team of Animal Ambassadors. His striking features and playful personality make him one of the favorites of the ECWR Education Program.

  Roo - Fish Crow

Roo had to have a portion of his right wing amputated after being hit by a car. While he is still very active, his injury prevents him from actually flying very far and therefore, he could not be self-sufficient in the wild.

After a long recovery, Roo's playful personality and amazing intelligence surfaced, making him a prime candidate for our educational team. His inquisitive nature makes him very entertaining and a crowd pleaser.
